Sanders and Mayes paint celebratory flag mural

In an effort to spruce up downtown and display patriotism for the semiquincentennial celebration of America, local artists came together last weekend to paint the Murphey building windows in downtown Lovell.

Linda Morrison of the Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce originally contacted Peter Sanders to take on the project of painting a patriotic mural. This project required taking off the previous paint and priming the window before the mural sketching and painting could begin. 

Soon after the project got started, Ella Mayes joined to help. A few other helpers, as well as admirers, helped contribute to the finishing of the mural, which depicts an American flag.

The painting took Sanders and Mayes two days to complete and can now be enjoyed by all that drive by.
