Sheriff’s report: A domestic dispute ended with one arrest in Byron

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of Dec. 20 – 29:

Dec. 22: Several Cowley residents reported seeing an unfamiliar vehicle driving around town and suspicious acting individuals looking into parked vehicles and trespassing on private property. (See: Suspicious activity in Cowley draws attention of law enforcement)  

An individual moving out of a residence near Lovell reported two firearms missing from her belongings. The matter is under investigation.

A resident of Cowley reported a dumpster had flipped and was blocking the road, creating a hazard for motorists.

Deputies conducted a routine business check in Lovell.

Dec. 24: An individual residing near Lovell asked for advice regarding an injury she said she sustained on private property. She was advised by deputies that it was a civil matter.

Dec. 25: Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle that had driven off the road and into a ditch, damaging a fence on private property in Frannie. The driver was cited for failure to report an accident and for destruction of property. There were no injuries resulting from the accident.

Deputies were called to the scene of a domestic dispute in Byron. Michael Dushon Ross was arrested and charged with domestic violence and bodily injury of a household member.

Dec. 26: A deputy noticed a driver parked near the Lovell Cemetery who was leaning back in the car seat. After checking on the well-being of the driver, the deputies learned he was just putting eye drops in his eyes.

Sheriff’s deputies were asked to stand by while a former resident removed belongings from a household near Byron following a domestic altercation that had taken place the week before. The transfer of items took place without incident.

Dec. 29: A deputy assisted a Byron resident who had questions regarding a child custody situation.

Dec. 30: A semi-truck hauling beets was rear-ended by a mini-van when it slowed to make a turn near the Lovell Community Center. A Big Horn County Sheriff’s deputy and other law enforcement and fire officials directed traffic while the vehicles were cleared from the roadway. Neither driver was taken from the scene by ambulance.

Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
