Sheriff report: ‘New in box’ kennel stolen in Byron
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of Sept. 23-29:
September 23: 5:55 a.m. – Two horses were reported on the highway at the intersection of U.S. 310 and Road 5 near Cowley. The horses were located and put away.
8:13 a.m. — A report was called in about vandalism over the weekend in Jones Park in Byron with writing on a restroom door. The case is under investigation.
September 24: 7:55 a.m. – A deputy stopped on U.S. 310 and Highway 32 west of Lovell to assist a motorist who had stopped to retrieve tools that had fallen off the back of his pickup after he had left his tailgate down.
12:21 p.m. – A driver stopped at the Lovell Police Department after being followed closely from Byron to Lovell. A deputy spoke to the reporting party about a written statement and a video.
2 p.m. – A deputy assisted at the scene of a crash in which a 75-year-old woman drove off the highway and through a right-of-way fence on Wyoming 32 south of Byron. Wyoming Highway Patrol investigated.
2:32 – Law enforcement officials in Big Horn County were advised to be on the lookout for a vehicle driving south from Montana that had been involved in a road rage incident in which a motorcyclist had been killed. The motorist did not come into Big Horn County and was apprehended in Park County.
4:24 p.m. – A caller reported that three dogs were missing from a residence on North Center Street in Byron. Dispatch took information in case the dogs were found.
7:48 p.m. – A vehicle vs. deer collision left a vehicle in the middle of the highway on U.S. 14A just east of Byron. The call was referred to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
September 25: 7:30 a.m. – A deputy came across a motorist who had run out of gas south of Cowley. The driver said a friend was walking to get some gas.
8:06 a.m. – A caller on East Riverview in Byron reported that someone had stolen a new-in-box kennel during the night, stating that “someone drug it off.” The case is under investigation, and the public is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 307-568-2324 if they know or hear anything about the theft.
September 26: 1:23 a.m. – A vehicle was stopped for speeding more than 100 miles per hour on U.S. 310 south of Lovell. Dylan Tyler Williams of Byron was arrested for speeding, reckless driving and not possessing compulsory auto insurance.
6:55 p.m. – A report of an overdue boater on Big Horn Lake was called in to dispatch. It was learned later that the boater had experienced trouble on the water but was heading home.
September 27: Several callers reported seeing the Elk Fire burning atop the Big Horn Mountains east of Lovell.
5:04 p.m. – A semi-truck with Montana plates was reported driving erratically on U.S. 310 heading north in the Deaver area. Wyoming Highway Patrol was notified.
Tara G. Cliame of Lovell was arrested for a bond violation.
September 28: 3:16 p.m. – A caller reported hoofprints left by horses and cattle in the reporting party’s yard. A deputy informed the caller that Wyoming is a “fence-out state,” which requires a property owner to fence out intruding livestock.
9:37 p.m. – Deputies assisted the Lovell Police Department with a disturbance call on Jersey Avenue in Lovell.
September 29: 1:54 p.m. – A camper at the Big Horn River causeway east of Lovell reported that his dog had slipped its collar and was missing. The dog is a brown Labrador retriever and was wearing a red collar.
Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
