Sheriff report: Car wasn’t stolen, just repossessed

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of March 3-8:

March 3: 2:21 p.m. – A staff member at the Cowley Mercantile requested assistance at the store. The call was referred to Cowley officer Dan Anderson.

March 4: 4:09 p.m. – A deputy noticed and removed wood from the roadway on U.S. 310 near Good 2 Go west of Lovell.

March 5: 11:16 a.m. – A caller reported a wallet lost in the Byron area the day before in case someone turned in the lost item.

11:22 a.m. – A deputy noticed and removed metal from the roadway west of Cowley on U.S. Highway 310.

11:22 a.m. – A caller asked if the Sheriff’s Office has any cat traps, noting that the caller had a friend who passed away in Deaver and had several cats plus took care of strays. The caller was referred to the Town of Deaver as the county does not have any cat traps.

March 6: 6:25 a.m. – A caller reported that he hit a cow on U.S. 14A about three miles northeast of Byron. There was no road blockage nor any injuries, though the cow was dead alongside the highway. The Wyoming Highway Patrol was notified.

7:34 p.m. – A caller reported the theft of a 2023 Toyota Corolla from a residence on South Heart Mountain Street in Byron. It turned out that the car had been repossessed.

March 7: 8:33 a.m. – A deputy conducted a civil standby in a situation involving a custody situation involving a juvenile in Byron.

1:02 p.m. – A deputy on patrol came upon an apparent abandoned vehicle on Wyoming 32 southwest of Byron, but the owner then arrived to fix a flat tire.

2:42 p.m. – A deputy noticed a white horse loose in the Lovell area and ran it back inside a fence.

4:25 p.m. – A deputy assisted the Lovell Police Department with removing some unwanted individuals from a motel in Lovell.

March 8: 12:06 a.m. – A deputy assisted the Lovell Police Department with a domestic dispute at the Bair Trailer Court on West Second.

10:27 p.m. – A deputy assisted the Deaver-Frannie Fire Department with an EMS call on Lane 9 near Deaver.

Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
