Sheriff report: Driver of stuck vehicle gets ride home from Lover’s Lane

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of March 9-15:

March 9: 1:14 p.m. – A deputy assisted as a Cody Police officer spoke to a student at Lovell Middle School about items stolen from the Cody Rec Center.

2:15 p.m. – A large amount of spilled gravel on Highway 37 east of Lovell was referred to the Wyoming Highway Patrol for cleanup by WyDOT.

March 10: 2:08 p.m. – A deputy noted a vehicle broken down just west of Byron and unoccupied but not blocking the highway.

2:36 p.m. – A caller reported a semi truck stopped in the middle of the highway on Wyoming 32 southwest of Byron with its flashers on. The truck was gone by the time a deputy arrived on scene.

7:39 p.m. – A deputy responded to a report of a drunk customer at Good 2 Go who was spinning cookies in the store parking lot. The vehicle proceeded into Lovell, where the driver was arrested for DUI.

March 11: 2:10 p.m. – A deputy investigated a report that a FedEx driver was delivering a package on Road 10 near Lovell when a neighbor’s dog came out and bit him. A deputy met the dog owner at a vet clinic for tests, and the dog was quarantined at the home until test results came back. The case remains under investigation.

5:45 p.m. – A caller from a business west of Lovell asked for a person to be removed from the business property.

March 12: 10:23 a.m. – A deputy noted a blue Impala with a flat tire two miles northeast of Byron.

9:47 p.m. – A deputy assisted Lovell police with a trespassing issue at Family Dollar.

11:10 a.m. – A deputy checked out the scene of a vehicle vs. deer collision west of Lovell near the Oasis Junction. There was no one at the scene, and the vehicle was not blocking the roadway. The Wyoming Highway Patrol was notified.

March 13: 2:04 a.m. – A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle stuck at Lover’s Lane near Jim Creek in the Yellowtail Wildlife Habitat Management Area east of Lovell. The driver had planned to walk to town, but he accepted a ride with a deputy due to cold temperatures.

12:39 p.m. – A caller on Lane 9 near Cowley reported that their neighbors were shooting a gun onto their property. A deputy responded and spoke with the neighbors, who said nobody had been firing a weapon that day. It is unknown where the shots came from.

5:17 p.m. – A caller reported an abandoned horse in bad condition on the Crystal Creek Road near Lovell. The caller wanted to take the horse home but was advised that the horse was the responsibility of the Bureau of Land Management.

March 14: 7:22 a.m. – Three horses running loose just east of Lovell on U.S. 310 were placed in a nearby pasture to get them off the highway.

9:35 a.m. – An injured deer just northeast of Byron was dispatched by a deputy.

11:01 a.m. – A deputy picked up an individual at a business west of Lovell on a Park County warrant.

1:26 p.m. – A deputy assisted at the scene of a controlled burn out of control on the west edge of Cowley.

6:33 p.m. – A caller reported that the Georgia-Pacific Road needed to be plowed due to accumulating snow.

8:40 p.m. – A caller requested a snowplow on Lane 16½ near Lovell due to heavy snow.

March 15: 11:58 a.m. – A report of an accident that had taken place the previous day on U.S. 14A just east of Lovell was referred to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

11:15 p.m. – A deputy assisted at the scene of a controlled burn that had flared back up at Lane 13 and Highway 310 south of Lovell.
