Sheriff report: Powell woman arrested for possession of meth and marijuana

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of February 2-8:

February 2: 2:06 p.m. – A man called from Cowley about what he could do about a vehicle that has been parked on property he purchased since 2019. Assistance regarding the process was given.

February 3: 1:06 p.m. – A caller complained about a truck driving on U.S. 310 south of Lovell near Lovell Lakes traveling at varying rates of speed and failing to maintain a lane of travel. A deputy made contact with the driver, who said he was tired and lost, trying to find Georgia-Pacific to pick up a load. Assistance was given.

3:22 p.m. – A man called dispatch to report that his son’s truck had broken down just west of Byron and that he would come and get the vehicle later that evening.

February 4: 11:17 a.m. – A deputy checked on an individual parked in front of the church in Byron. The man said he was trying to find a phone. Assistance was given.

3:43 p.m. – Extra patrol was conducted at the school bus stop area on the east end of Byron in the wake of incidents of cars passing buses while their flashing lights were on.

6:10 p.m. – A deputy put horses away that had been running loose southwest of Byron on Wyoming Highway 32.

6:58 p.m. – Following a traffic stop for speeding, Keisha Ann Cahill of Powell was arrested for possession of meth and marijuana, defrauding a drug and alcohol screening test, driving while under suspension and speeding.

February 5: 11:39 a.m. -- A resident of Deaver called to report that a dog was coming onto their property on a regular basis, and no one knows whose dog it is. She doesn’t want the dog to get into her chickens. There have been no deaths, but she has to keep the birds penned up. She said the dog looks like a tall bulldog.

3:31 p.m. – A deputy saw a dog running loose in Byron. She recognized the dog and called the owners to come out and get him. They did so and put the pooch back in their home.

February 6: 2:09 p.m. – A caller reported a suspicious person walking along U.S. 310 about three miles south of Lovell. A deputy was unable to locate the individual.

2:27 p.m. – A deputy checked out an unoccupied and apparently disabled vehicle about two miles south of Lovell on U.S. 310. The vehicle was tagged for towing.

11:53 p.m. – The Sheriff’s Office assisted in an effort by the Lovell Police Department to locate a missing juvenile.

February 7: 12:58 p.m. – A deputy assisted at the site of a controlled burn that had gotten out of control on Highway 32 near Byron.

6:41 p.m. – A deputy checked on an unoccupied vehicle parked about seven miles south of Lovell on U.S. 310 that appeared to have mechanical issues in that the radiator was sitting in the front seat.

8:25 p.m. – A caller reported a grey Ford truck weaving all over the highway a mile northeast of Byron on U.S. 14A. The vehicle turned onto a side street in Byron and could not be located.

February 8: 10:35 a.m. – A deputy checked out an unoccupied vehicle south of Byron on Wyoming 32 just past the Willwood turnoff. The deputy planned to check back on the vehicle later.

10:31 p.m. – A caller reported that five horses were out and some in the middle of the road on Road 7 near Cowley. A deputy responded but could see no horses.

Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
