Sheriff report: Speeding stop leads to arrest for possession of meth and marijuana

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of March 30-April 5:

March 30: 4:48 p.m.  – Deputies assisted at the scene of a haystack fire between Cowley and the Oasis Junction on U.S. 310.

5:53 p.m. – Following a report of a black cow running loose about a mile northeast of Byron on U.S. 14A, the owner arrived to put it back in the pasture.

Nevaeh West Lundberg of Lovell was arrested on a warrant for failure to pay and probation violation.

March 31: 3:02 p.m. – A heeler dog reported as running loose at Lane 11½ and U.S. 310 belonged to hands working cattle at the site.

April 1: 7:49 p.m. – Deputies responded to a report of threats being received by cell phone on West Yellowstone Avenue in Byron in what turned out to be a dispute between family members. One party was told to stop sending messages. The other was told to block the sender.

April 2: 2:51 p.m. – A deputy was unable to help a motorist who had locked keys in a car on Road 13½ near Lovell because it was a newer model car. The motorist was advised to call a locksmith.

4:12 p.m. – A caller in the Frannie area reported a neighbor’s livestock dogs coming onto her property. The dog owner was apologetic and promised to check the fence and see where they were getting out.

Following a traffic stop on U.S. 310 south of Lovell in the area of Blue Hill, Liberty Nicole Graham of Billings was arrested for possession of meth and marijuana, as well as speeding.

April 3: 2:04 p.m. – A caller living on Lane 3 in the Deaver area called to complain that the mail carrier was leaving the mailbox door open. The reporting party was advised to contact the post office.

8:13 p.m. – Following a report of three horses running loose on Lane 11½ near Lovell, the owner arrived to round them up.

April 4: 9:42 a.m. – A caller said her recently adopted Australian Shepherd had been chasing livestock near her home, but she had the dog tied up and wanted to take the dog back to Cody from where she adopted the pet but has no car to transport the dog.

1:09 p.m. – A caller reported that a gate was down and “a whole lot of cows were out” at Lane 13 and U.S. 14A northeast of Byron, but when a deputy responded, no wayward cows could be found, so the deputy closed the gate.

2:17 p.m. – A caller from Road 17 near Cowley complained that their kids can’t play outside because of a swarm of bees from nearby hives. The caller was informed it was a civil matter.

5:39 p.m. – The sheriff’s office is investigating a report of two juvenile males who reportedly tore an old telephone wiring box off a Town of Byron building at Riverview Park.

10:18 p.m. – A caller said he saw a person wearing a black hoodie walking near a neighbor’s house, then exchanging expletives with people in a vehicle, which drove away. The caller said he possibly smelled marijuana and followed the vehicle for a time before turning around and returning home.

April 5: 1:16 p.m. – A deputy investigated reports of an older Powell man, possibly intoxicated, driving and making contact with people in the area of the John Blue Canyon road. The deputy found that the man was disabled but not intoxicated.

7:12 p.m. – A caller reported that a black flatbed truck crossed the center line and nearly hit them on U.S. 310 west of Cowley. A deputy was unable to locate the vehicle.
