Sheriff report: Truck not stolen, actually repoed
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of Oct. 14-20:
October 14: 12:09 a.m. – A caller reported cattle “all over the road” on U.S. 310 between Cowley and Deaver. The Wyoming Highway Patrol was advised, and a trooper later reported finding no livestock on the highway at that location.
10:45 a.m. – A woman reported that a man was making threats to her husband. She was advised to get a protection order and a criminal trespass order against the male subject.
October 16: 7:48 a.m. – A report of “20-plus cattle” on the side of the highway on U.S. 14A West at the Park County line was referred to the Highway Patrol, who responded since the cattle were actually across the county line.
October 17: 12:04 a.m. – A man and wife reported that their Ford pickup truck was missing from their driveway on Road 7 near Cowley. A deputy responded and gave the couple a stolen property form to fill out and sign. It was discovered later that day that the vehicle had been repossessed so the “attempt to locate” was cancelled.
12 noon – A driver was pulled over for speeding and was found to be driving while under suspension. Raymond Vern Calvert of Lovell was arrested for DUS and no valid driver’s license.
October 18: 5:57 p.m. – A caller in Deaver reported that he saw two little boys riding on bikes through Deaver Irrigation property, saying he was worried they would destroy property.
6:15 p.m. – A routine search was made at Lovell High School using a K-9 officer from the Powell Police Department. Nothing was discovered inside or outside the school.
October 19: 12:44 p.m. – A man reported that his female neighbor was “flying down the dirt road” and almost hit him, adding that she has threatened in the past to run over animals. A deputy responded and spoke to both parties.
6:05 p.m. – A man in Deaver reported a white pickup and a red compact racing and heading toward Cowley on U.S. 310. A deputy was unable to locate the racers.
8:03 p.m. – A caller complained about “loud booming noises” coming from the park in Byron. It was the “Byron Halloween Pyromusical” featuring fireworks at the park.
October 20: 2:53 a.m. – A deputy initiated a traffic stop after a car ran a stop sign at Crosby’s Corner southeast of Cowley. The driver was issued a citation for stop sign violation, and three juveniles were cited for minor in possession of alcohol. Serrenity Reann Carabay was arrested for MIP and probation violation.
In Basin, Dulcie Kate VanVoorhis turned herself in on an arrest warrant and for endangering a child with a controlled substance. VanVoorhis was held for another agency, as well.
Note: The above calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
