Sheriff report: Truck strikes power pole at Good 2 Go

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of Sept. 17-23:

September 17: 4:36 p.m. – The Cowley Police Department was dispatched after a call came regarding kids on Second Street shooting arrows that the caller stated were going through his fence.

September 18: 8:56 a.m. The Sheriff’s Office was notified that there were three to four inches of icy slush and reports of slide-offs on U.S. 14A east of Lovell on the west slope of the Big Horns. The call was referred to the Wyoming Highway Patrol to make contact with WyDOT to dispatch a snowplow to the area.

1:36 p.m. – A 911 call reported a brown horse on the side of the highway eating trees on U.S. 14A near Byron. The caller was informed about non-emergency numbers to call, and when a deputy responded, the deputy observed cattle being moved but no lone horse.

3:43 p.m. – A call regarding a gas line being hit on Nevada Avenue in Lovell was referred to the Lovell Police Department and Lovell Volunteer Fire Department.

September 19: 10:02 p.m. – A deputy on patrol came upon a driver from Basin who had hit a coyote on Wyoming Highway 32 between Byron and Emblem. The deputy offered assistance.

September 20: 6:24 p.m. – A caller reported eight or nine cows on the highway on U.S. 14A just west of Byron. The Wyoming Highway Patrol was notified as a deputy was out of position.

6:29 p.m. – A deputy responded to Good 2 Go just west of Lovell in regard to a report that a truck had struck a power pole and that lines were touching the ground. The Lovell Volunteer Fire Department responded, and Rocky Mountain Power was called, later able to install a new pole.

September 22: 4:03 p.m. – A caller reported that a camper had been in place on Forest Road 14 in the Big Horns “for quite a while.” The owner, who was hunting, was contacted and said he would be leaving the area shortly.

8 p.m. – A vehicle vs. cow accident was reported on U.S. 14A just above the switchbacks. The driver from South Dakota was uninjured, and the Highway Patrol was contacted. The cow was injured, and the owner was contacted. There was no road blockage.

September 23: A report was called in about vandalism over the weekend in Jones Park in Byron with writing on a restroom door. The Sheriff’s Department and the Town of Byron are requesting the public’s assistance, asking to be notified if anyone sees something suspicious. Call the Sheriff’s Office at 307-568-2324.
