UW Extension hosts food preservation review sessions

As canning season approaches, the University of Wyoming Extension invites community members to attend upcoming open-house style food preservation review sessions hosted by Extension educator Melissa Cook.

The sessions are April 28 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Greybull library, April 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Market in Lovell and May 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Burlington Fire Hall.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their pressure canner gauges for a free pressure check — a service recommended annually to ensure proper function and safety. Cook will also be distributing up-to-date pressure and water bath canning instructions and trusted recipes.

A Ball electric water bath canner will be on display at each session, and an overview of how to use it properly will be provided. Whether you’re new to canning or need a refresher, this is a chance to ask questions, gather resources and connect with others who enjoy home food preservation.

No registration is required to attend these open house sessions. For more information, contact Melissa Cook at the University of Wyoming Extension in Basin at (307) 568-4160.
