UW Extension offers hands-on canning classes June 3-5

The University of Wyoming Extension office is offering pressure and boiling water canning classes June 3-5. Food preservation expert Vicki Hayman will lead the classes through hands-on instruction. Learn the latest USDA-approved methods and recipe sources for safely canning this year’s produce. The classes have a $15 supply fee.

The pressure canning class will be offered June 3 in Lovell from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the LHS Life Skills room, 502 Hampshire Ave.; June 4 in Greybull from 9 a.m. to noon in the GHS Life Skills room, 600 N. Sixth St.; June 4 in Burlington from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall (109 Main St.); and June 5 in Worland from 9 a.m. to noon at the Worland Extension Office (1200 Culbertson Ave., Suite G).

The boiling water (water bath) canning class will follow on June 5 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Worland Extension Office (1200 Culbertson Ave., Suite G).
