A one-vehicle crash just west of Cowley Sunday afternoon resulted in the arrest of an area woman for DUI.

According to Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Crosby Ralston, Shelley Berryman was driving east on U.S. 310 west of Cowley at around 3:35 p.m. when she veered off the road to the right, causing her to lose control of her car. She began spinning counterclockwise about 180 degrees, Ralston said, as she crossed the center line and exited the roadway to the left, coming to a stop along the right-of-way fence, facing west.

Ralston said there was an open container of vodka on the passenger side floorboard, and Berryman was arrested for “DUI – incapable of safely operating a motor vehicle” after performing a standardized field sobriety test.

She was also cited for lane use and open container, the trooper reported.
