Wyoming Economic Analysis Division releases Just the Facts

CHEYENNE (WNE) — A new edition of Just the Facts has been released by the state of Wyoming Economic Analysis Division. The updated 2024 publication provides information on demography, education, the economy, transportation, housing, geography, tourism, agriculture, tax environment and crime and law enforcement in the state.

The data displays facts for the most recent period for Wyoming, its ranking relative to other states and the change from the previous period.

“People are often curious about how their state ranks compared to others. This publication compiles statistics from a diverse array of data sources,” said Wenlin Liu, chief economist with the Economic Analysis Division, in a news release.

Here are some highlights from the publication:

• Percentage of population born in Wyoming in 2023 was 41.9%, ranked 45th, compared with 77.1% in Louisiana (most) and 27.2% in Nevada (least).

• The share of households that are married couple families in Wyoming in 2023 was 49.2%, ranked sixth, compared with 58.2% in Utah (first) and 40.9% in New Mexico (50th).

• Wyoming’s population age 18 years and over who are veterans was 10% in 2023, ranked third, compared with 12.7% in Alaska (most) and 4.2% in New Jersey and New York (least).

• Proportion of population age 25 years and over with a high school diploma in Wyoming in 2023 was 93.9%, ranked seventh, compared with 95% in Vermont and 84.8% in California.

• Wyoming’s population age 25 years and over with a bachelor’s degree in 2023 was 30.4%, ranked 41st, compared with 47.8% in Massachusetts and 24% in West Virginia.

• The Wyoming median household income was $72,415 in 2023, ranked 31st, contrasted with $99,858 in Massachusetts and $54,203 in Mississippi.
