LMS volleyball score on tough opponents

This past weekend the Lovell Middle School volleyball teams played against Riverton and Lander. 

The eighth-grade teams played a tough game against the Riverton Wolverines. The eighth-grade A team swept the Wolverines off the court, winning all three sets, 25-16, 25-22, 15-11.

“We played some great volleyball,” head coach Tiffany Anderson said. “Riverton has some great hitters, and we defended them really well.”

The eighth-grade B team fell to Riverton 25-16, 25-22, 15-9. 

The teams then played the Lander Valley Tigers. The eighth-grade A team had a successful match against the Tigers, winning all three sets 25-18, 25-15, 15-11.

“Lander has improved a lot since last year and played really tough defense,” Anderson said. “Our girls didn’t back down and just kept hitting at them. We were challenged by both teams, but our girls showed a lot of mental toughness and great teamwork.”

The eighth-grade B team stayed tough on the court but lost the game 25-16, 25-17, 15-11. 

The seventh-grade teams also fared well this weekend against their competition. Both seventh-grade A and B teams defeated Riverton in all three sets. The seventh-grade A team won their match 25-22, 25-11, 15-12, while the B team won theirs 25-23, 25-17, 15-12. 

Facing off against Lander next, the A team went 1-2 against the Tigers falling 25-20, 8-25, and 16-14. Though the seventh-grade B team lost their first set to Lander, the Lady Bulldogs managed to turn it around with a win of 24-26, 25-17, 15-7. 

Tuesday night, the teams went toe to toe with Greybull in Greybull.

The eighth-grade A team managed to pull out a win against Greybull 2-1 in sets with scores of 25-15, 25-20, 10-15.

The seventh-grade A team swept the Greybull Buffs off the court, winning all three sets 25-13, 25-18, 15-8. The B team had a couple of close sets against Greybull but ultimately ended up losing with scores of 25-16, 25-18, 15-6. 

This weekend, the teams will play against several teams in a jamboree. The seventh-grade jamboree will take place in Lovell at 9 a.m. while the eighth-grade teams will play in Cody at 9 a.m.
