LHS 2025 Music Performance Assessment results

Carisa French, music director at Lovell High School, has released the judges’ results of the 2025 Music Performance Assessment held Tuesday, April 22, for bands and choirs and Wednesday, April 23, for ensembles and solos at Northwest College in Powell. Performances were rated as superior (I), excellent (II) and good (III).

The Concert Band received a total rating of superior minus with a I, I and II from the judges.

All four instrumental ensembles received a superior rating. They were Nathan Cornia, Jacob Thomas and Wilson Hendershot, brass trio; The Beat Factory, percussion ensemble; Juliette Caldwell and Lydia Craw, alto sax/clarinet duet; and Jarrett Allen, Alivia Nuttall, Dean Anderson and Grant Hill, trombone ensemble.

Representing LHS with solo performances receiving superiors from the judges were Sadie Ennis, clarinet; Rachel Pope, violin; Stetson Asay on piano and trumpet; Taggart Shumway, tenor sax; and Claire Shumway, flute. Augastina Lembke and Sara Wood were given excellent ratings on their clarinet solos.

French listed two vocal groups receiving superiors, Harvest Harmony, (I, I, I) and Sugar Beats, (I, II+, I).

Small vocal ensembles Jay Mayes and Atlee Sanders, mixed duet; Jay Mayes, Wilson Hendershot, Haley Sanders and Ella Spanier, mixed quartet; Whitney Hendershot, Davin Crosby, James Blau and Anastyn Leithead, mixed quartet; Lynn Marchant, Shalon Wilkerson and Juliette Caldwell, treble trio; Sugar Beats boys; and Sugar Beats girls all earned superior ratings.

Excellent (II) recognition went to Caitlyn Allen, Jenna Hessenthaler, Gabe Buchholz and Cutler Wilkerson, double duet; Breege Wagner, Augastina Lembke, Kara Heindl and Rebecca Allred, treble ensemble; Lynn Marchant, Haley Sanders, Damian Wagner and Kyle Wilson, mixed quartet; Shalon Wilkerson and Rachel Pope, S/A duet; Addie Weber, Juliette Caldwell and Tazz McArthur, mixed trio; Candace Walker and Kandace Asay, S/A duet; Petra Jerome and Augastina Lembke, S/A duet; and Kyson Crosby and Kelvin Robertson, T/B duet; while Bella Martinez, Petra Jerome, Nakia Heron and Lydia Craw, treble ensemble, earned a II+. 

Mylee Morgan, Jaycie Allen, Ali Walker, Avery Walker, Ava Edwards, Carlos, Brandon Jasso and Cutler Wilkerson received a III+ for their mixed ensemble.

Performing superior (I) vocal solos for the judges were Parker Steenbakkers, tenor; Jay Mayes, baritone; Whitney Hendershot, alto; Damian Wagner, tenor; Grady Henley, tenor; and Rachel Pope with two soprano solos. 

Mylee Morgan, alto; Kenley Wilson, alto; Breege Wagner, alto; Jaelen Mayes, soprano; and Shalon Wilkerson, soprano, all received a II+ and Kennadee Owens, soprano; Addie Weber, alto; and Talon Burton, baritone, all received a II.

Several of the students performed for the public at the combined band/choir concert held Monday evening, April 28, in the high school gym.
