Police report: Drunk stranger walks in and sleeps on the couch of random house

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of August 25-August 31:

August 25: 9:19 a.m. – A caller reported that there was a bat near the front door of Wild Edge on East Main Street. Police notified the Game and Fish Department because they are not to handle any wildlife.

August 27: 5:47 p.m. – A resident on West Third Street called to report that a truck had hit their camper parked in the street, causing extensive damage. When officers arrived and saw the damage, the neighbor from next door came outside and spoke with the officers and the owner
of the camper and stated he was driving and hit the camper with his truck as he was coming home. Both parties agreed to work it out civilly, and no charges were made.

August 28: 10 p.m. – A bartender at the Shoshone Bar called to report that a male who was trespassed from the business had come into the bar and was making threats. As soon as the call was made, the male left the premises. The criminal trespass order had not yet been served to the individual, but the officers took the paperwork to the suspect and informed him that, if he entered the bar again, he would be arrested.

11:19 p.m. – A woman living on Lincoln Avenue reported that her husband was intoxicated and throwing things at her. When officers arrived and spoke to both parties, the male agreed to leave for the night and officers performed a civil standby as the wife also got some of her things and left the residence.

August 30: 2:14 a.m. – Officers were driving down Main Street and noticed two individuals in a heated discussion in front of the Shoshone Bar. The officers made contact with the individuals, who were an intoxicated father and daughter. All parties agreed to separate for the night, and no charges were made.

8:19 p.m. – A resident of Montana Avenue called to report that there was screaming and threats being made about killing someone at their neighbor’s house. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the caller and neighbor at the residence next door. The female that had been yelling
at the location was a mom yelling at her kids to come in from jumping on the trampoline for the 100th time and had become frustrated and used some choice words toward her disobedient children. Officers determined there was no threat.

9:03 p.m. – A wife called to report that her husband was intoxicated and acting belligerent on Oregon Avenue, and the two got into a verbal argument with one another. Officers arrived and spoke with both individuals, who agreed to separate for the night. The officer gave the male subject a ride to his camper to stay for the night.

August 31: 8:38 a.m. – A female came to visit the renter of a home on Carmon Avenue and arrived around midnight and fell asleep in the bedroom. Around 4:30 a.m., she got up to go get a drink in the kitchen and noticed someone asleep on the couch. She thought it might have been a family member, so she went back to bed and fell asleep. The renter showed up about 7:30 a.m. and saw the male subject sleeping on the couch and went to ask her friend who it was, and neither knew, so they took photos of him and woke him up to tell him to leave. The male
appeared to be jittery or hungover but left immediately. The two females then called the police department and, based on the photos, the officer spotted the male outside of Maverik, and he said he had been drinking with his dad and they came to Lovell from Sheridan to see the
dad’s girlfriend. He wandered off while intoxicated and didn’t realize he was in the wrong home. No charges were made, and officers instructed the females to call the police as soon as they notice a suspicious person in the future.

4:36 p.m. – A female called to report a fight in progress on Lincoln Avenue. When the officer arrived, there were no individuals fighting, and he took statements from those who witnessed the fight. One individual involved wants to press charges for assault. The issue is still under investigation.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
