Blackburn has served with integrity and character

Dear Editor,

In the 12/18/2025 edition of The Lovell Chronicle, Sheriff Blackburn announced his retirement after “over 40 years as a First Responder.” In his order of priorities, he stated that his “first was to God, second, to his family and third, as Sheriff of Big Horn County.”

It is refreshing to find a person with priorities so well defined that goes to that person’s integrity and character. The citizens of Big Horn County, and beyond, have been well served by such a person. The majority of citizens have recognized Sheriff Blackburn’s contributions to the safety and well-being of all as evidenced in previous elections.

Sheriff Blackburn has set a high standard for the department to follow. May his many acts of goodness, both seen and unseen, follow him through his future years of retirement. To Sheriff Blackburn, “Ten-Four-Two” or in Ham lingo, “73.” Well done, sir!
