Police report: Father-son fist fight includes ‘accidental head butt’

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of May 4-10:

May 4: 1:27 a.m. – An officer checked the Wyoming Motor Vehicle license office on East Second after an alarm went off. There was no sign of criminal activity, and the owner was contacted.

11:56 a.m. – A male caller said a dog tried to bite him in his own backyard. The dog owner was issued two citations for dog at large.

12:08 p.m. – An officer assisted at the scene of a fire with reported 10-foot flames at the town vegetative waste site on Dudley Drive north of Lovell.

2:35 p.m. – A caller reported that their border collie had slipped out of a collar and was missing. The party called about a half hour later and said the dog had been found.

6:31 p.m. – A caller requested a welfare check on the caller’s juvenile son. An officer responded and found everything to be OK.

6:45 p.m. – An officer responded to a 911 hangup at Armory Park and found the park filled with people attending a middle school concert, with no way to find the phone that dialed 911. But no emergency was discovered.

May 6: 11:23 a.m. – A caller reported two trash bins stolen out of the back of a pickup on Nevada Avenue while he was at an eye appointment across the street. The case is under investigation.

May 7: 11:34 a.m. – A caller reported receiving an apparent scam call “from Amazon” stating that information from the caller’s cell phone had been downloaded. The individual called a number given but provided no personal information.

1:04 p.m. – A female caller reported that she had recently obtained new license plates but didn’t yet have a tool for putting them on her car, so she put one in the front window and one in the back window. She later found the plate in the back window missing.

5:02 p.m. – An officer responded to a report of a fist fight between a father and son at Kansas and West Second. The pair had been separated by a neighbor by the time the officer arrived, and an investigation showed that the fight was mostly verbal with “minor pushing” and an “accidental head butt.”

May 8: 12:33 p.m. – A caller reported that his vehicle was intentionally blocked in by cars at the front and rear of his vehicle at Shoshone and West Eighth. The close parkers were advised that intentionally blocking in a car or truck was illegal, and they moved a vehicle to a more reasonable distance from the caller’s vehicle.

1:07 p.m. – A caller on Nevada Avenue said he had video evidence of a neighbor’s dog running through his garden and would provide it after returning from a trip.

7:33 p.m. – A caller reported an older woman with grayish hair, a red shirt and black pants seeming unbalanced and waving her arms around at Main and Shoshone. An officer made contact with the woman and found her to not be causing any trouble.

11:48 p.m. – An officer checked on an adult male lying in the street at Nevada and Third. He said he was fine, but family members took him back inside the house.

May 10: 3:08 p.m. – A call about a vehicle stuck in the mud at Jim Creek in the Yellowtail Wildlife Management Area east of Lovell was referred to the Park Service and the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office.

11:44 p.m. – A female caller asked for an unwanted male to be removed from a residence at Bair’s Trailer Court. The man was gone by the time an officer responded.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
