Priscilla Jean May Caturia

April 19, 1939 – Aug. 5, 2026

Priscilla Jean May Caturia, 87, died peacefully on August 5, 2026, in Buffalo, Wyoming. 

She was born on April 19, 1939, to Loretta Grace Porter and Oliver Cromwell May. 

She married Scott Allen Caturia in January of 1976, and they were married for nearly 50 years. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Priscilla was born in the Lovell hospital but spent her early childhood in Kane. She was the youngest of 10 children, and after her birth her mother had to stay in the hospital for a while. Her older sisters took her home to care for her and named her Priscilla after a movie star they admired at the time. 

Her family moved to Lovell after the Yellowtail Dam was commissioned, and she lived there into her teenage years. She enjoyed being around her nieces and nephews, who were not far from her age and became very close to them.

Before she married, she attended several semesters of college before deciding to go to beauty school to become a hairdresser. She also taught Head Start in Lovell for a number of years. She loved working with and teaching children. After she had her own children, she focused her efforts on loving and raising them. Eventually, she took a job as a bus driver for the Lovell schools, which she did for many years.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1961 she was called to serve in the Spanish American Mission in San Antonio, Texas, where she served for two years. She spoke Spanish with a brilliant accent and enjoyed learning the language and speaking it throughout her life. She often expressed the love she had for the people she served on her mission. Later in her life she and Scott served a temple mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia. She delighted in serving the Lord all her life.

Priscilla’s family was the greatest joy of her life. She was a wonderful mother who raised her children in righteousness and taught them to be humble and kind. She loved all her brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews and always maintained an interest in their lives. Her devotion to her family never wavered.

Throughout her life she grew many gardens and canned many jars of apples, peaches, green beans and tomatoes that helped sustain her family. She loved music and art and shared her talents freely with her family and friends. She made many baby blankets and quilts for her family.

Priscilla was greatly loved by her family and will be missed. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Loretta Grace and Oliver May; siblings Porter May, Andrew May, Venus Anderson, Virga May, Rosemarie Brinkerhoff, Phern Wardell, Phyllis Partridge, Jay May and Jerry May; husband Scott Caturia; stepson Robert Caturia; and granddaughter Kaitlyn Caturia. 

She is survived by her children, Robin Griffin, Joy Osbon, Krista Howe and Kade Caturia; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lovell. Interment will be in the Lovell Cemetery.
