Sanders wins marathon, sets example for his athletes

The annual Sugar Beet Run was held Saturday morning on a crisp fall day, sponsored by the Lovell Recreation District.

The run featured a full marathon this year, and the inaugural race was won by Lovell High School cross country coach Caleb Sanders in a time of 3:38.46. Close behind was one of his student athletes, Isaac Sanders, who completed the course in 4:42.01.

Amanda Clark placed third in 4:08.27, David Sanders fourth in 4:42.35.

Ryan Clark won the half marathon in a time of 1:51.09, and April Nicholls was the top female runner, placing second overall in 1:58.33.

Kassandra Newman placed third in 2:02.04, followed by Suzie Newman in 2:04.23, Lacee Davila in 2:06.10, Abby Murphy in 2:09.15 and Elizabeth Sofchalk in 3:44.30. Also running was Sarah Johnson.

There was only one entry for the 10 kilometer race. Madison Cox finished in 57.32.
