10:33 a.m. – A caller on Garfield Avenue reported that the front door at their neighbor’s house was open and that the neighbors had been in Arizona for a few weeks. An officer responded and cleared the residence, finding nothing amiss. Dispatch called the homeowners, who asked a family member to come secure the house.

7:28 p.m. – A woman on Kansas Avenue reported that she could detect an odor that “smells like drugs cooking or something nefarious.” An officer responded and drove around the area, reporting that there was a very strong skunk smell in the air.

October 17: 2:52 a.m. – An officer responded to a report of a fight in progress between two brothers on Lincoln Avenue. The apparent aggressor was reported to have arrived at the location with a bar, which turned out to be a windshield scraper. The brother with the scraper was pinned to the ground when the officer arrived, and since the man with the scraper had come to the home and was the alleged instigator, he was arrested for simple battery and cited for driving with a suspended license. The arrested individual was Adrian De La Cruz of Cody, age 52.

3:11 a.m. – A caller reported that a small SUV had hit a tree while backing out of a parking spot at the Mustang Laundry on Montana Avenue. The RP said the lights were out on the left side of the vehicle, and pieces of the vehicle were left behind. An officer spoke with the owner of the laundromat, who was going to look at surveillance video.

An officer located the vehicle in town and made contact with the driver, finding him to not be intoxicated. Maverik did not elect to press charges.

October 18: 4:42 p.m. – A caller reported that a juvenile was being hit by an 18-year-old on East Main. An officer responded and spoke with the pair, who had been fishing at the National Park Service pond. The officer determined that it was the younger juvenile who was upset with the 18-year-old and was shoving him and throwing sticks across from the Conoco Country Store. Parents were contacted.
