Letter to the Editor: Just another day in Lovell

Dear Editor,

I went and found my cane. I then found my glasses. I got on my cowboy outfit and got ready to mount my horse. After getting settled in, I checked my pistols making sure they were loaded. I never thought that in the year 2026 I would have to do this. Yep, time to be the old west. Ride down Main Street with guns a blazing. But then I realized they would just call out the Sheriff on me, and then I would be part of a song, “I shot the Sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy.”

It seems that a few weeks ago, I sent a message to our mayor about the mosquito spray. I went so far as to tell him that I would defend my 4th Amendment rights and protect my home from being sprayed with this poison that they are using. Not thinking, I realized he misunderstood me, and I had a short talk with the police chief, which was nice as he got to meet my brother who was visiting with his friend celebrating their retirement from law enforcement, 44 years for my brother and 25 for his friend. I should have informed them better about my intentions. I don’t need a firearm to protect my home from this invasion. I have something better.

Yes, you heard me. Yep, I have been talking to an attorney. Yes, this is my last copy as far as I know on the mosquito spray, so I hope you find it informative. A lot better than being sprayed with this mosquito spray. Ask my dead bees. But not any attorney, but one who has my interest as well as the town interest in mind.

If you happened to miss it in the paper about the last council meeting, they brought up what other towns are doing. I have opted out of being sprayed, but the wind still carried it on to my vegetable plants. They said people in other towns opted out, so, I believe you can opt out of being sprayed by just going to City Hall and tell them you want to opt out. That or continued having poison sprayed on your loved ones.

My biggest problem now is when I check my city bill, will they continue to make me pay their fee to spray the poison, or is it when you opt out, you don’t have to pay to kill others? If you are unsure, ask for a copy of what they are using and read for yourself.

Fortunately, my garden, like many others in town, is finished for the year, so it is back to re-doing my yard as my lilies have grown so much that they need to be thinned out, so I am doing just that. Also, it’s that time of day so it’s back to a nap and riding my horse.

Have a great day and stay safe.
