Local mom looks for answers to mystery illness

Katelyn Showalter has been looking for answers for the past year. She’s lost 100 pounds and is using a feeding tube. She has multiple medical conditions and is without an underlying cause but has not given up hope.
During her third pregnancy Showalter was on strict bed rest and in the first year following her daughter’s birth she lost 100 pounds. On the advice of her OBGYN she began to look into what had prompted the weight loss.

Cowley News The changing seasons reflects life

The leaves on the ground after being a beautiful green, turning yellow, gold then orange and brown is a dead giveaway of time passing. Soon we will have snow. The look of Main Street in Cowley has also changed. This summer, beautiful baskets of blooming color were scattered about. Now Christmas decorations light up the street. Christmas trees strung with colored lights are beautiful at night, along with red bows and lanterns.

It’s almost Christmas and not enough snow for a snowball. I’m glad people have all kinds of fanciful snow people in their yards.
I think it’s wonderful that the senior center is having the birthday/Christmas party December 20, on my birthday. If your birthday is in the month of December come for a free meal, a token for another meal and maybe a gift. It might even be presented by Santa. Hope to see you there to help me celebrate.

Santa was escorted by the Sheriff’s Dept. to Byron Town Hall Saturday, Dec. 2. Kids anxious to sit on his lap and go through their wish lists ran out to give him a happy welcome. Cindy Lou Who was on hand to greet families and Santa had his elf helper alongside to hand out candy canes. A spread of a variety of donuts and drinks was on hand to start the day off with a sugar high. Thank you to all who helped make arrangements for another fun party.

Last week a funeral was held for Joannie Rodriguez, a lifelong resident of Byron. Joannie was a couple years behind me in school. Her sister Nora Lee was in my class, so growing up, Joannie was just the kid sister. When I moved back to Byron I quickly realized that there was a force that had stayed and made their  homes and raised their families in Byron.
