Back to Christmas Day: After picking up all the wrapping paper and placing our opened gifts under the tree again (I don’t know why we did this. I guess to admire?) and taking Grandma Miller back home, it was off to Grandma and Grandpa Warfield’s, Mom’s parents, for a Christmas dinner with our Uncle Ken, Aunt Bernie and cousins Kathy, Patty and Larry.

It just hit me; I am a senior citizen

The other day, my sister, Jan, was in town (the Dallas Metroplex) to share Thanksgiving with her family, as well as a granddaughter earning her medical degree from Baylor University in Waco.
Jan and I met up for lunch one afternoon, and while on the drive to the restaurant, Jan looked at me and asked, “Do you ever wonder how we got to this point in our lives?” I was confused, and it showed. She said, “Our ages.”

Fads we remember from yesterday

Throughout all of life, there have been fads. One caveman saw another caveman bonk his wife, so he had to bonk his wife. One woman then started to wear the dino bones in her hair and one day, through her nose so then all the other ladies, except for the smart ones, wore a bone through their noses.

Dear Editor,
Many years ago, our government teamed up with the universities, colleges and special interest groups and introduced science into our wildlife and its habitats. Since this time, especially over the last 30 years, our deer herds, upland game birds and our waterfowl populations have been and still are being depleted.

Christmas spirit alive and well in our community

It’s been unseasonably warm this week, but that shouldn’t prevent all of us from getting into the Christmas spirit. In fact, the general lack of snow and warm temperatures, combined with the Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce challenge to light up the community, has seemingly caused homeowners and businesses to adorn their building, house and/or yard in Christmas lights as never before.
