Letter to the Editor: Governor should support property tax relief

Dear Editor,
I would like to thank Governor Gordon on his property tax proposals. Thanks. Thanks for nothing.
There is a property tax initiative going around, or was, to lower property tax on your primary residency by 50%. Of course Gordon’s against it. Never mind how much property taxes have increased due to rising property values.

Imagine a world where everyone loves themselves. Love is a force that operates under the natural law that action and reaction are always equal and moving in opposite directions. What you give comes back to you. You reap what you sow. Karma happens. What goes around, comes around.

I returned home from work tonight, and before making dinner, I opened the freezer, slipped out a half gallon of my favorite ice cream and dished out a small bowl. I stood in front of the heater, savoring every spoonful of peanut butter and chocolate chips while feeling the warmth from the fire on my backside and toes.
I’ve also been dreaming of making homemade macaroni and cheese with a warm batch of homemade bread. I noticed I’m sleeping almost an hour more each night, too. This is not like me. What’s up with that?

I read a book a long time ago about being a cop, authored by a cop. It was called the Steel Trinity or something like that, symbolizing badge, cuffs and gun. There were all kinds of interesting information and stories. One thing that really surprised me was the second most common day for domestic disturbance calls:  Super Bowl Sunday.

Dear Editor,
Today, while on Road 11, there was what looked like a very hungry stray kitten, maybe six months old. Looking closer, it had a band around its neck. This is where the concern is.
Although it has been years since the trauma of losing a kitten in Powell, due to a similar folly, it is like yesterday when I saw this kitten -- the hurt, the pain and tears, of course.

In the gospel of John, chapter 13, verse 34, it says: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” With Valentine’s Day approaching, the thought crossed my mind of how could Lovell love one another well this year? The answer? How about leaving a love note for your neighbor. (Not in a creepy way!) But what if you took the month of February, typically a month associated with giving and receiving Valentines and instead wrote a simple love note for a random person in the community?
